During the photo shoot of the Dark Queen mask, I decided to play with a dark veil given the strong wind of that day.

We had a blizzard some days ago and everything was covered by snow, which made an ideal landscape for a new photo shoot with the Dark Queen mask.
However, shooting in snow is not that easy, the natural light is a bit hard to manage because it bounces everywhere. In addition to that, it’s hard to set a good exposure that captures texture in both the snow and the subject given the high contrast – you end having texture in the snow with a dark subject, or a good exposition in the subject with a white non-textured background.
Con el grupo de rock caleño La Fábrica he podido realizar trabajos interesantes en mi carrera como fotógrafo. En esta época iniciaba Pin como nueva vocalista, y la idea era renovar la imagen del grupo.
En aquella época estaba realizando un curso de dibujo de manga japonés, y había conocido el trabajo de un artista llamado Tsutomu Nihei, autor de novelas gráficas como Blame!, Noise y Biomega. La imagen de estos libros se me hizo muy acorde a lo que me transmite la música de La Fábrica, con letras un tanto oscuras, sonidos densos y efectos industriales.
Mi propuesta era generar imágenes fotográficas similares a los comics de Nihei. Ropa y ambiente oscuro, piel blanca. Decidí tomar las fotos individualmente para que el grupo pudiera usarlas de diferentes formas, y realicé esta composición como imagen del grupo. Aunque invertí algunas horas editando las imágenes para lograr el efecto, las fotos originales ya incluían fondos oscuros y caras iluminadas.
En este trabajo usé una luz direccional de 50W como luz principal. Esta luz bañaba las caras de los integrantes del grupo. Usé una luz de 500W direccionada hacia el fondo, para iluminarlo y separarlo del cuerpo de los sujetos.
